Mission

The mission of the MBA Real Estate Club at UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School is to provide its club members with premiere industry education and networking events in order to increase career opportunities in the real estate industry and shape tomorrow’s leaders.

Program History

The Real Estate Program at the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School has been in existence for over 20 years. During this time, the program has served not only the state of North Carolina, but also U.S. business communities by preparing students for a variety of careers in the Real Estate marketplace.  The Program has placed hundreds of students in high paying careers in Real Estate, and has arguably risen to be one of the top five programs in the U.S., by virtue of its standing among prospective students, recruiters, and academics.

Each year, a significant number of students enter Kenan-Flagler Business School with an interest in pursuing the Real Estate concentration and career track.  In fact, the Real Estate career track attracted students well before the official designation of career tracks several years ago.  The program offers approximately 6 fellowships annually, using funds raised by real estate faculty and the Kenan Institute’s Center for Real Estate Development.  These include the Trammell Crow Fellowship, the Leonard Wood Fellowship, the Mortgage Bankers Association Fellowship, the Stephen D. Bell Fellowship, the Michaux Family Real Estate Fellowship and the Pension Real Estate Associates (PREA) Fellowship.  Leonard Wood, Dick Michaux, and Stephen D. Bell are alumni of our program.  In addition, the International Development Research Council (IDRC) has provided funding to students to examine the role of corporate real estate in former Soviet Union countries.  All of these funds have been used to attract top-level students to our MBA Real Estate program.

Currently Kenan-Flalger offers 8 career and enrichment concentrations, including one in Real Estate.  Here is a quick overview of the Real Estate Concentration, 2007-08[PDF: 43K]
